Blog7 Quarter4-The Fault In Our Stars

The book I Just started is called The Fault In Our Stars. It is about a girl named Hazel and she has cancer so her mom sends her to this group full of kids who have/ or had. Hazel is a girl who is 17 and just like a normal teenager but with cancer. She doesn't like the group her mom made her sign up to and go. She feels like why should she go talk to other people about there cancer when she is almost dying. The first day of the group Hazel finds this guy that she thinks is cute (OMG <3) but she's what you would call "ainti social" but somehow her and this cutie, August Waters, start talking. August Waters had cancer but beat it. Hazel and August started falling for each other and Hazel mom was so happy she found a friend.

My favorite part in the book is when Hazel and August are talking out side and he pulls out a cigarette and Hazel says "WOW. You really just messed this up. You were doing really good. You know what it feels like to not be able to breathe and your going to risk your self by smoking that? Wow." This is my favorite part because August says " They don't kill you unless you light them. And I've never lit one. Its metaphor, see: You put the killing thing right between your teeth, but you don't give it the power to do its killing." This stands out so much to me because its showing you that there may be something that is good or bad but it doesn't really matter unless you add the meaning good or bad to what you do.

Blogt6 Quarter 4-Kinda Like Brothers

The main idea of the book was that a foster kid named Kevon was moving in and Jerrette didn't like it. he thought Kevon was out to get him and that he wanted to just take his place in everything, even his mom was starting to love Kevon as her own. Jerrette family always takes foster kids into there home until they find a home but this time it was different for Jerrette because Kevon was around his age. They basically had to share EVERYTHING. Kevon has been through a lot and he kept a lot of things to his self. Jerrette didn't know half of the things he went through because they didn't really get alone. If you didn't get alone with someone it would take a lot for you to tell that person your secrets and everything you went through. So with that being said Jerrette thought he just wanted to hide and not talk to him about anything so he really didn't try to get to know Kevon.

I just finished the book Kinda Like Brothers by Coe Booth. The overall message of the book is " Every peer you meet isn't to get you". Or "You don't always have to trust a person but you do have to give them a chance to earn your trust." I think this is the overall message because Jarrettte never really gave Kevon a chance. If he would have probably gave him a chance and welcomed him with warm arms than he would have probably liked him and got alone with him very well. Kevon should have also had put in a little more efford to try to talk and become friends with Jerrette.
