Number Of The Stars- Assignment 5

The genre of the story is mostly Historical Fiction. I think its Historical Fiction because The Nazis are real and what happens to the Jews are real to. Some events in the story may be made up but the whole point in the story is how bad the Jews were getting treated. I like this genre because most of the story is true and some are not. The Arthur tries to inform the reading about how the Jews were getting treated from a kids point of view.
In chapter in chapter 10 the family fake a fake death to give the Nazis a reason why everyone was coming over. When the nazis came they had a casket to make it more realist but really there was no body in the casket. They were planning something secretive for the Jews. The nazis did come and try to intimidate them and make cough up what was going on. Ellen also saw her parents.

Number Of The Stars - Climax

A summary of the book we finished " Number Of The Stars" is the conflicts are leading up. One of the main conflicts is making sure the Nazis don't find out anything there planning. One thing they planned was to fake like Ellen ( Annemarie friend which who is Jewish) was there real daughter while her mom and dad go on a "trip" but one night the Guards came in and was questioning the family trying to make them break and say that she wasn't there real child. But the dad finds a way to solve that problem!
The book we just finished in Lit Studies is called " Number Of The Stars". In chapter 9 " Why Are You Lying " the rising action happened when Annemarie found out Uncle Henrik and mama was lying her. As she walked out side she saw Uncle Henrik working on something so she went up to him. " You are lying to me.  You and mama both." Uncle Henrik knew Annemarie knew something about what him and mama were planning. " Its much easier to be brave if you don't know everything." Uncle Henrik replied. They were planning a fake death so they could have a reason to tell the Nazis why there were having so many people over but really they were planning something. Annemarie still didn't find out what it was until the day of the funeral came. After the rising action,
Annemarie found out what they were planning and it made her want to be more brave and be a upstander just like Uncle Henrik and Mama.

Memory Moment- Number Of The Stars

Page-67
A summary of the book we are reading in Lit Studies the main characters Annemarie, Ellen ( Annemarie friend ), Kiristi ( Annemarie little sister). Ellen's family is Jewish , they live in Copenhagen Denmark. In World War II, Denmark lost the war against the German so the Nazis came and took over the city. Since they took over everything is so different from the way it was before. Annemarie and her family want to save all the Jews especially her friend Ellen's family. Threw out the book they find ways to help the Jews from the Nazis.
In the book " Number Of The Stars " one of the characters (mom) Mrs. Johansen had a Memory Moment when they were on the trains and they pasted by where she use to live with her mom. She remembers how perfect it was when she was growing up and she remembers all the times she had. She said in the book "It stills looks perfect just as she left it." This made her remember all the times she had with her mom.

Upstanders and Bystanders The Holocaust

I think some people stood by and watched the holocaust because most people probably thought of it as if they stand up than the nazis are going to come after them. Something that inspires the upstanders to stand up to the nazis because they saw how they were being treated and the jews were being victimize. I would have probably not stood up because what if they try to come after me. We have learned about camps when the jews were being catched they were put in camps and being killed. I don't like how they were being treated just because of there region. If I was a jew I would want someone to stand up for me but I would understand why they wouldn't.

More Bones

  • Paragraph 1 is a summary/review/thoughts about your book.
  • Paragraph 2 should discuss theCONFLICT(S) in your book and what these conflicts tell you about the possible THEMES in the book.

The book I just finished is called " More Bones " . The author is Arielle North Olson . Its about scary stories and getting you spook . I like the book because its a scary but funny book at the same time . The author uses clear descriptions about how spooky the characters are and how spooked they try to get each other . I like this book because its not a book I would read . When I read it , something I found interesting is that the main character in the book had married a Corpse ( dead body ) .
There was really no conflict in the book . The only thing was no one knew the main character was married to a corpse. The theme in this book is probably " Love is love even when its dead love is still love." If I could add another chapter to the book it would probably be about how they communicate. How does he feel not hearing her talk and helping him with everything?

Summary of Among the Hidden

The book i am reading is called Among The Hidden . The main character is Luke and he is the 3rd child and his parents are only allowed to have 2 kids and he is illegal so they have to keep him hidden so no one finds out about him . He meets a friend and she wants him to let everyone know that how special he is and he really likes her so he is willing to rise everything just for her .  They live in the woods so no one will find out or notice him . If they found out about him they would take him away and number him as a number for example if they found out out they will take him to a to a place and put a number on his arm .

The genre of Among the hidden is young adult fiction . I like the part when Luke and his crush had there little moment . They were telling each other there special . I didn't like the part where he wanted to second guess about why he has to stay hidden .  Something I like about about Luke is how strong he is like he doesn't care about what anyone says about him he just wants to be seen .

Workers' Right

The article I read is called Fight for fair treatment of workers: Don't buy Nike. The workers' in Indonesia only get paid $1.25 a day and they could only afford a 8 foot 8 one bed room apartment, if the workers' have extra money they usually pay for tooth paste or soap. They don't have enough money to sponsor there kids education. #3 People have the right to a safe life. I think this right is being violated because they only make $1.25 a day and live in a 8 foot house. If they live in a 8 foot 8 house and share a one bed room with 1 person could sometimes be unsafe with the little room limit. The article says  "In addition to the difficult, yet technically legal hardship of earning minimum wage, workers have suffered human rights violations at Nike factories." I think the issue is the workers are not getting treated as they should. If the workers are helping the business grow and make money why are they not getting treated the way they should? I thought that If Lebron James could donate 90 million dollars to them , how come the worker’s are still not getting paid enough?

In the poem "The Sweat Shop" there was a worker who got treated like a machine so bad where to the point he thought he was a machine. I think right #3 People have the right to a safe life, is being violated . I pick #3 because the worker feels like he is a machine and he says in the poem " I have no feeling, no thoughts, no understanding." Humans are not suppose to be treated in that way to the point where they forget there meaning or forget they have feelings. I think the poem was different from the article because in the article Fight for fair treatment of workers: Don't buy Nike , the workers didn't get treat as bad as the worker from the poem . I think overall the workers shouldn't get treated like they have no meaning . If they help the business and make money for them , than they should be able to get the proper treatment they need .
